Remote Learning

Key Stage 2

posted 10 Jan 2021, 06:39 by Miss Mullineux

Due to updated government expectation, teachers of children in KS2 are to now set work to the equivalent of 4 hours, daily.
In light of this, children in ks2 will now be set 2 foundations subjects, as well as English, maths, and reading. The second activity will direct your child to a recorded video on Oak academy. Following this, your child's teacher will set an activity, based on the video, to complete and send back.
May I please remind you that children are to send work back via their Google Classroom account.
As always, thank you so much for all of your support during this time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me on ks2@springsideprimary.co.uk

Attached is a timetable for Year 6 students to help with organisation during Remote Learning.

Key stage 1

Due to the governments decision to close schools, we have prepared a letter (see attached) to hopefully answer any questions you may have about your child's learning this half term.

If you have any further questions, please message your class teacher on Classdojo or email ks1@springsideprimary.co.uk. We will have the responsibility of managing remote learning alongside the teaching and learning of Key Worker pupils in school. Therefore, please be aware that we are juggling lots of responsibilities when you are awaiting a response.

This is not how we wanted to begin our new calendar year however, this is what we must do keep our community safe.

Remote Learning update

It certainly has and continues to be, a very strange year for us all. The pandemic has indeed brought about many changes and challenges to our daily lives. Hopefully, in the best interests of the children, we can all continue to support each other, remain positive and move forward in unison.

Well done to everyone for accessing Google Classroom. ‘Remote Learning’ maybe a new way of learning for parents but not so new for pupils and it is certainly the way forward, especially in the current climate. In the event, of the need, for home learning, the Government has requested all schools use Remote Learning - using one of many’ Learning Platforms’ available. Springside has selected ‘Google Classroom’ as it is easily accessible, free and user friendly.

Last month, all parents were issued individual usernames and passwords, in order to access Google Classroom and Miss Mullineux has uploaded ‘Step by Step Guidance' for its use – please see attachment. Having the capacity, in school, to monitor individual use of Google Classroom, it appears only a couple of families have experienced challenges with logging on to the school work. If having followed the step by step guidance issued, parents/pupils are still having issues, please do not hesitate to email Miss Mullineux  ks2@springsideprimary.co.uk. To support all pupils with the learning set, staff will be available between the hours of 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday for children and/or parents to speak with and discuss any individual concerns they may have.
