Maths Challenge Against Other Schools in Bury

Fantastic News!!!

Well done to the 4 children in year 6 who entered the ‘2018 Young Mathematicians Award’ last week with Miss Mullineux. There were 18 schools from Bury who entered and only 3 schools would be able to go through to the Regional stage. Our school was one of the top 3 schools and will be representing Bury in a couple of weeks.

The activities they had to complete were all about teamwork, reasoning and problem solving skills. Our report said that our children worked systematically, presented their findings clearly and had great questioning skills.

This success is due to the work we have been carrying out as a school on developing children’s reasoning skills in maths. These activities were demonstrated to parents on our maths open night last half term.

We wish the children the best of luck in the next stage of the competition!
