Mr John Clegg - Co-opted Governor

Governor since     , term ends June 2018

"It was whilst making doughnuts at the school Summer Fair one year that I was approached and asked if I would like to consider offering myself as a Community Governor.  That was a number of years ago and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed my time as a Governor of Springside.
The role has changed considerably during the years that I have been involved.  There is a much greater level of responsibility on Governors and they are 'held to account' for the progress of all pupils within the school.
There is excellent Governor training provided by the Local Authority and no one should feel put off from becoming a governor because they feel that they do not have the necessary skills.  The desire to support the school and commit the necessary amount of time are the two main requirements."
"I am a member of the Resources, School Improvement and Staff Dismissal Committees and have a responsibility for Governor Development.  I have attended 4/4 full Governing Board Meetings, 2/3 Resources Committee meetings and 7/8 School Improvement Committee meetings in the last 12 months."
"I have read the document entitled 'Register of pecuniary or business interests' and I declare I do not have any interests which may conflict with my duties as a Governor of school.  I agree in the event of any interests arising after making this declaration I will declare to the Governing Board such interests."
